About Jane Catherine Dolan
Hi. I'm Jane Dolan, an artist and professional organizer/stylist.
I haven't always thought of myself as an artist. My journey as an artist started as a way for me to express my gratitude to my organizational clients. I would make hand stamped thank you cards, because it was more personal and I know that the difference between made-by-hand and mass-produced is an important distinction.
Since then, the art has taken on a life of it's own, evolving and growing in beautiful and unexpected directions.
We of often think of rubber stamps as toys that belong in children's arts & crafts boxes, but rubber stamping has something of a history in the world of art. Kurt Schwitters, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, and probably most famously, Andy Warhol all used rubber stamps in their works, sometimes alone, and sometimes in tandem with other more "traditional" mediums.
I work with rubber stamps, paper, ink & quotes as a way to connect with writers and thinkers of the past, in hopes of better understanding the present - sometimes someone else said it better first.
You can find a selection of finished works in my portfolio.
And on my blog, you can find more artwork, quotes & stories.
